William Berry Taylor papers, 1779-1814.

Papers of William Berry Taylor include a survey book; an account book, which includes some surveys; and several plats of surveys. From 1779 to 1784, Taylor surveyed lands along the Ohio River between Newport and Louisville, Kentucky, including lands along Harrods and Goose Creeks. His clients included Elijah Craig, John May, Edmund Taylor, William and John Marshall, Samuel Beall, and William Preston.

William Berry Taylor was a lawyer and land speculator who migrated from Botetourt County, Virginia, to Shelby County, Kentucky, in the late eighteenth century. After migrating, Taylor continued to practice law in Virginia as well as Kentucky. Taylor was part of the influential Taylor family that included Colonel Richard Taylor, the James Taylor's, and Zachary Taylor.
